Longtime West Hollywood City Manager Paul Arevalo is wrapping up his tenure at City Hall. Arevalo notified city staff that he’s retiring.
“I truly love the city,” he told WEHOville. “It’s my home. It’s an important part of who I am.”
Arevalo has managed West Hollywood for 22 years. He’s beloved by the community, which will make it a deeply emotional transition. He started working for the city in 1990 as finance director. He had previously worked for Bell Gardens. He got the city manager’s job in 1999.
Arevalo will continue his involvement with the California City Management Foundation. He has also pledged to make himself available to the City Council as it chooses his replacement and to the next city manager — whomever that may be.
