The City of Pleasanton has named a new Community Development Director to replace Brian Dolan following his recent appointment to the assistant city manager position.
Mountain View zoning administrator Gerry Beaudin will take over on July 27, overseeing all planning and development within the city, according to a statement released by City Manager Nelson Fialho on Monday.
"We're very excited to have Gerry join the team," Fialho said. "In a crowded field of highly competitive candidates, Gerry distinguished himself to be a bright, creative and balanced thinker to match his impressive track record in city planning and community development."
In addition to his current position with Mountain View, Beaudin has served in various planning capacities for the cities of South San Francisco, Los Altos, and Toronto, Canada. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Queens University, Canada and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto. He also holds an accreditation from the American Institute of Certified Planners and the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, and is a graduate of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
“For most of my 15 years in community development, I have been fortunate to manage a variety of projects and make a positive impact in my communities, the past 11 of which have been in and around the Bay Area,” Beaudin said.
As the city’s Community Development Director, Beaudin will oversee an annual department budget of $10 million and 42 full-time employees. He will also manage upgrades as part of the Downtown Specific Plan and the creation of an Economic Development Zone for 35 acres of commercial real estate along I-680.
