Police Investigate Antisemitic Flyers Found on Lawns in Whittier

Antisemitic flyers have been popping up in towns across Southern California. The City of Whittier in Los Angeles County is the latest target.

Mayor Joe Vinatieri addressed the flyers on Facebook Monday:

Over the weekend, hateful, anti-Semitic flyers were left on driveways at a number of East Whittier homes. These appear to be the same baseless propaganda flyers that have been distributed in other Southern California communities and around the nation.

Whittier stands against all types of hate and there is no place in Whittier for this bigoted thinking. It is against every value our city embraces and we take personally these kinds of reprehensible attacks.

We are Whittier Strong and we stand together with all Whittier residents against hate in all its forms.

The Whittier Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation.

Flyers containing antisemitic language or imagery were recently distributed to homes in Beverly Hills and Pasadena and found at several Santa Monica schools.

This isn’t the first time Whittier residents have received hateful propaganda of a mysterious origin. In 2015, KKK flyers were distributed on several lawns along Adele Avenue.

Thursday, Jan. 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today, the world commemorates the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. To find out more about how you can combat hate and antisemitism, visit the Anti-Defamation League website.
