The June 7 ballot features more than just the presidential race.
In LA County, several measures on the ballot involve taxes and school bonds. But on measure is asking voters in Pomona if they want more billboards.
Measure Y would allow developers to build additional billboards along freeways, including electronic ones.
The text for Measure Y asks:
Shall the Pomona zoning ordinance be amended to authorize the installation of outdoor advertising signs within specific freeway adjacent corridors and to impose planning regulations and restrictions concerning the number and location of the outdoor advertising signs, and to establish development fees to be paid to the City of Pomona in an amount of $1 million for each billboard installed?
The city would be profiting from these billboards which could make it enticing for voters who wish to see their city increase revenue.
