The City of Pomona has chosen Anita D. Gutierrez as its next top administrator. The city made the announcement at its regular meeting on February 5th.
Gutierrez has been with the city for the past five years and currently serves as Acting City Manager. She previously held the roles of Assistant City Manager and Development Services Director. Until 2019, she was a Supervising Regional Planner for Los Angeles County.
"I am both humbled and thrilled to serve the City of Pomona as its City Manager,” Gutierrez stated in a news release. “I am enthusiastic about building upon my work in Pomona, enhancing community trust, engagement, and collaboration. I look forward to closely collaborating with the City Council, staff, community members, and local businesses to accomplish the City Council's key priorities and address the various challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
Gutierrez earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California State University, San Bernardino and her Master’s in Planning from the University of Southern California.
Pomona’s last city manager, James Makshanoff, stepped down in December under a “mutual employment separation” with the city. He had previously been out on personal leave.
