Former San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier found himself in deep… trouble… when he was caught on camera dumping a bag of dog feces on the walkway of a political opponent.
Members of the public called for the Mayor’s resignation after details of the event emerged, and then recently, Kneier announced he would be resigning from the position of San Marino's mayor.
However, officials said that Kneier will remain on the council until his term finishes in November of 2015. Many vocal residents are not pleased that the council member was not completely off the council, and was only resigning from his position as mayor, and as such, they began a petition.
One hundred registered voters in San Marino signed a Notice of Intent to begin a recall petition to remove Kneier from the council completely.
The city has yet to receive any recall paperwork, but in order to have a successful recall election, 25 percent of registered voters in the city must sign the petition. This means that recall supporters would have to amass 2,143 signatures in order to move forward.
Council Member Kneier has not responded to the petition.
