President Barack Obama will visit the City of San Bernardino Friday to meet with the families of those killed in this month’s terrorist attack. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest announced the visit Wednesday, saying the president would stop over while traveling to Hawaii for the Christmas holiday.
Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Redlands) praised the president’s decision.
“I've conveyed to the White House the importance of the president's presence in our region as we rebuild, and I join with our community in welcoming him to San Bernardino,” Aguilar said in a statement.
Fourteen people were killed and another 22 injured during the attack on the Inland Regional Center on Dec. 2. The first funeral for victim Yvette Velasco was held Thursday, Dec. 10 and several others have been held since.
