Brentwood has a bird problem. Or at least this one very unlucky family does.
At first glance, a Brentwood family seems to be living a normal life in suburbia. But an undesirable and unusual situation is impacting their everyday life.
"Dead carcasses, the fish, the eggs and the stench," Danielle Witrykus told ABC7 News.
That's because their backyard is lined with bird feathers, left behind by a flock of Herons and Egrets that have nested in this tree since March.
The family says they've become prisoners in their home, thanks to the hazardous conditions around the property. They've contacted the city, but the city says it hands are tied. That's because the fowl and their nests are protected by state law.
Brentwood's mayor Robert Taylor is as frustrated as the Witrykuses are.
"This is where bureaucracy and logic don't mix," he said. "This is insane."
The city is trying to work with state officials on a solution to the problem. Until then, the Hitchcockian turmoil continues.
