The City of Redwood has selected Catherine Ralston as head of economic development, officials announced Monday. The current Livermore economic development manager will assume her new position on Feb. 8, filling a vacancy created by Sean Brooks’ departure five months ago.
Ralston has been with the City of Livermore for almost 17 years and previously worked in a planning capacity for Davis. She has nearly two decades of economic development and planning experience and holds a Master of Arts in Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of Maraga and a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Development from the University of California. She is also a member of the International Economic Development Coalition and Municipal Management Association of Northern California.
It was Redwood City’s focus on the downtown area that first attracted Ralston to the position.
“You see their passion and wanting to succeed. The corporate businesses are important as well, but it’s a little more disconnected,” she said.
Ralston will earn an annual salary of $142,764. In 2014, her base salary in Livermore was $110,929, with total compensation around $165,702.
