Dozens of large wildfires are burning across the state amid a relentless heat wave and lightening strikes in the northern part of the state. All of California is under a declared state of emergency.
“Throughout the state of California right now, we are stretched thin for crews,” said state fire spokesman Will Powers (NBC News). "Air resources have been stretched thin throughout the whole state.”
Active incidents include the SCU Lightening Complex Fire in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties; the LNU Lightening Complex Fire in Napa County; the River Fire north of Salinas; the CZU August fire in Santa Cruz; the Salt Fire in Calaveras; the Butte Lightening Fire; and the Hills Fire in Fresno County.
