Sacramento Councilman Targeted in Recall Effort

It’s been three months since the City of Sacramento ordered an investigation into Councilman Sean Loloee’s residency. As of yet, no findings have been released. Tired of waiting, two Sacramento residents say they’ll serve Loloee with recall papers Thursday, October 13.

Alicia Bledsoe and Kelli Cooper are hoping to force a recall election next year before the end of Loloee’s term in 2024. The recall effort already has support from Loloee’s former challenger Ramona Landeros and Del Paso Heights Community Association President Greg Jefferson.

Members of the Sacramento City Council must live in the district they represent. But there are several indicators that Loloee has not been living at the address where he is registered to vote, and instead resides at his wife’s home in Granite Bay. Loloee’s insistence that he lives in North Sacramento has put him in the awkward position of explaining a series of 911 calls about parties, weapons, fireworks and stolen cars at the Sacramento property where he claims to live.

In addition to the city’s investigation and the recall effort, Loloee could be forced to step aside in the event of a successful “quo warranto” lawsuit from a resident, election law attorney Fred Woocher told the Sacramento Bee.

Read more about the ongoing questions surrounding Loloee’s residency and the recall push here.
