Proposition 64 won a major endorsement last week, with Sacramento Mayor-Elect Darrell Steinberg voicing support for the measure.
“I will be voting for Proposition 64 in November and encourage others to do the same,” he said.
Plenty of big-name politicians are supporting California's marijuana legalization initiative (it is being championed by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, after all), but Steinberg is the first mayor of a major city to lend his support.
He is slated to replace sitting mayor Kevin Johnson December.
