A new report from CoworkingCafe ranks Sacramento, California #2 in economic growth among large U.S. cities.
Between 2019 and 2023, Sacramento experienced the following:
Second-highest growth in employment (2%)
32% increase in median earnings (from $35,954 to $47,441 per year)
166% increase in business applications (highest in the nation)
31% population increase
7% increase in housing units
The region is also becoming more educated. Among large cities, Sacramento now ranks 4th in growth of educational attainment.
Only Austin, Texas performed better than Sacramento in terms of economic growth for a large city. Among mid-sized and small cities, the leaders were Gilbert, and Goodyear, Arizona.
CoworkingCafe relied on official U.S. data for the years 2019-2023. The researchers examined cities with at least 100,000 residents, paying special attention to population growth, GDP, employment rates, trade activity, and other measures of economic progress.
