The Safest Cities in California in 2022

Home safety comparison website SafeWise has released its annual list of the safest cities in America. The rankings were published amid a state and national uptick in crime, with polls showing voters are very concerned about safety in their neighborhoods.

Safewise bases its rankings on FBI crime data. It released a list of the 50 safest cities in California. Below is a list of the top 10.

1. Danville
2. Rancho Santa Margarita
3. Moorpark
4. Aliso Viejo
5. Yorba Linda
6. Laguna Niguel
7. Poway
8. Mission Viejo
9. Rancho Palos Verdes
10. Thousand Oaks

This is the third consecutive year that Danville, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Moorpark have made the top three. San Gabriel (#39) saw the biggest improvement, rising 32 spots since 2021.

Safewise actually calculated crime risks for every city in the state that met its population threshold, so we can see which cities ranked dead last.
