Fear of rising crime could put a damper on the Halloween season. That shouldn’t be the case. Trick-or-treating is much safer than those stubborn urban legends suggest, particularly if you’re going door-to-door in one of the state’s safer cities.
The Chamber of Commerce is here to help you out. It released a report called Halloween Statistics 2022: Safest Cities for Trick-or-Treating.
The Chamber analyzed data from more than 300 U.S. cities and compared them across five equally weighted metrics: pedestrian fatalities, violent crime, property crime, number of registered sex offenders, and number of law enforcement employees. Only cities with at least 100,000 people were part of the analysis.
These are the safest cities in California for trick-or-treating according to the report:
- Irvine
- Carlsbad
- Glendale
- Burbank
- Sunnyvale
- Torrance
- Murrieta
