Recently, the mayor of the Southern California City San Marino was caught on camera tossing a bag of dog feces on his neighbor’s property. Mayor Dennis Kneier recently wrote a letter of apology to his neighbor for the incident and told him it wouldn’t happen again, but some are unconvinced that his words are sincere.
Kneier stated that he was on his way from a park near his home when he came across a bag of dog poo. He decided to pick up the litter, but, in a “moment of not thinking,” he put the bag down near where he found it instead of bringing it all the way home.
The homeowner, however, has said that Kneier put the bag in his yard because he opposed the mayor’s proposal for a dog park. The homeowner also has a “no poop zone” sign on his lawn, close to where the bag of feces was left. The mayor admitted he doesn’t like the sign in his neighbor’s yard, but there are no laws against them.
The homeowner also revealed that Kneier’s apology and explanation has its share of holes. For instance, Kneier said he found the bag near his residence, but the camera footage covers 10 feet past his neighbor’s home, and Kneier cannot be seen picking up any litter.
The San Marino Police Department is still investigation the incident. Kneier told reporters that he had been formally questioned by the police. Sources say he could be fined for littering.
