San Rafael’s public works director Nader Mansourian is ready to close the book on his 29-year career with the city. Mansourian will step down on March 27 to do a little motorcycling and whole lot of scuba diving.
“I want to take a few months off to reboot myself and figure out what I want to do next,” he said. “I still have a lot to offer.”
Mansourian has served as Public Works Director since 2010, having been promoted from his previous position as Assistant Public Works Director. He previously spent many years as a traffic engineer with the city.
“It has been a privilege to work for 29 years for a public agency. I started as a technician and to make it all the way to public works director has been a pleasant, challenging and enjoyable journey,” he said. “I got to do things most people don’t get to do.”
City engineer and Assistant Public Works Director Kevin McGowan will serve as acting director of the department until a permanent replacement is found.
