More than 400 earthquakes have hit the area surrounding San Ramon, California over the past two weeks, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The rash of temblors began on October 13 and have ranged from 2.0 to 3.2 in magnitude, with some of the larger ones hitting the region on Tuesday.
Believe it or not, the USGS does not believe the recent bevy has broken any records, however. Rather, the earthquake recording process has simply gotten better, they say.
San Ramon, which is located in the San Francisco Bay area by the northern end of the Calaveras fault, is no stranger to movement. In 2003, it saw 120 quakes over a 31-day period.
So far, there have been no reported injuries or damages from the recent swarm.
