Tony Ferrara, the mayor of Arroyo Grande and president of the California League of Cities, has fallen behind write-in candidate Jim Hill in the latest election tally.
Hill was clinging to a 43-vote lead, according to the latest election tally, which was released on Nov. 7. County election officials say there are still 387 ballots left to count.
If the current results hold, the outcome would mark a major upset for Ferrara, who has served on the council since 1998.

Ferrara came under fire this summer for his handling of an incident this summer, when suspicions were raised over an incident involving City Manager Steve Adams and Arroyo Grande’s Community Services Director, who were caught alone, after hours at city hall. The city’s police union issued a vote of no confidence against the City Manager and Mayor.
