A former Marysville mayor, who now serves on the Marysville Joint Unified school board and is running for the Yuba County Board of Supervisors, was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Police say Frank Crawford drove his red SUV onto the front lawn of the Marysville Police Department at around 11 a.m. Officers came out to find Crawford seemingly impaired, ranting about wanting to pay traffic tickets and referring to the officers as “pigs.”
Crawford’s behavior was “abusive,” according to police. He attempted to run from the officers, but was ultimately subdued and handcuffed.
Crawford was taken to a hospital to obtain a blood sample before being booked at the Yuba County Jail on a misdemeanor. He was later released on $2,500 bail.
MJUSD board president Randy Davis says the school district was notified of Crawford’s arrest Friday and that the district is conducting an investigation.
“We know Mr. Crawford is still recovering from a severe accident that occurred a couple of months ago and we keep him in our prayers,” Davis added in an email to the Appeal-Democrat, which first reported the arrest.
