The City of Seaside is welcoming a familiar face to City Hall. Former City Manager Craig Malin has been selected to serve as the top administrator on a temporary basis.
Police Chief Nicholas Borges has been acting manager since April 18 when Jamie Fontes was fired. Malin was city manager before Fontes came on board.
Because Malin is a retired annuitant, he can only work 960 hours for the current fiscal year. He will split his time between Seaside and Poynette, Wisconsin where he serves as village administrator. He will not receive a travel allowance towards his trips.
When asked by the Marin Independent Journal about his commute, Malin said he is confident that he will be able to serve both communities at the same time.
“I’ll be physically in Seaside Thursday through Saturday and available by Zoom, phone, etc. Monday through Wednesday,” he said.
