Hidden Hills has hired a new city manager. Local government veteran Shawn Bayliss was appointed to the position on April 15.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Bayliss as our City Manager,” Mayor Larry Weber said in a statement. “He brings decades of experience in policy, budget, and community management in the Los Angeles region. He will be a stellar steward for our city.”
Bayliss called it a privilege to manage the gated community, which sits in the western foothills of the San Fernando Valley next to Calabasas and Los Angeles. He’ll take over for Interim City Manager Gloria Molleda. The city’s last permanent administrator, Claire Whitley, left after two days in office due to an unexpected family matter.
Bayliss’ career spans two decades. He previously served as Director of Planning, Land Use & Development for Los Angeles’ 5th Council District. He oversaw land use policy and budgeting for the departments of Building & Safety, Planning, the Board of Public Works, and General Services, according to a news release. He was also responsible for land use entitlement requests, development litigation, major infrastructure projects, and ensuring federal compliance. From 2017 until 2024 he served as the Executive Director of the Bel-Air Association.
