The City of Whittier has partnered with the Whittier Uptown Association and the local Chamber of Commerce’s Business & Economic Recovery Taskforce to create a relief fund for struggling businesses. Within three hours of its launch, 150 people had already applied, according to Spectrum News.
The Whittier Relief Fund offers grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants must have a physical location in the City of Whittier. They must be independently owned and operated and either provide personal care services or generate sales tax revenue in the city.
“We want to help our people," said Mayor Joe Vinatieri. "And if that means recognizing the team here who take care of our residents who are in rehab. If it means recognizing our small businesses, hair stylists who are out of business now, or restaurants who can’t serve outdoors.”
