Palo Alto has been named the safest suburb in California by SmartAsset.
The financial technology website compared 360 suburbs across the U.S. based on multiple public safety factors. These include violent crime rates, property crime rates, vehicular mortality rates, drug overdose deaths, and excessive drinking.
Only suburbs with populations of at least 5,000 were considered. To qualify as a suburb, a community had to be a 15- to 45-minute drive from one of the nation’s 100 largest cities.
