Eighteen wildfires are burning across the Golden State, as overgrown vegetation meets with hot and dry conditions. Half of the active incidents are in the Southland, including the following three blazes:
Line Fire

Acres Burned: 36,481

Bridge Fire

Ironically, The Airport Fire was ignited by public works crews who were trying to keep cars out of an area in order to prevent brush fires.
“The cause of the fire was a spark from heavy equipment being used to replace barriers out there,” Orange County Fire Authority Deputy Chief TJ McGovern confirmed. “Two employees from Orange County public works were utilizing heavy equipment to place large boulders as barriers on Trabuco Creek Road to restrict access into the vegetation."
