Forty-seven cities in Los Angeles County have been chosen to participate in an innovative grant program aimed at combatting homelessness on city streets. The program was launched by Los Angeles County and United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ Home For Good Funder Collaborative and is being financed by over $2 million from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Recipients will receive grants ranging from $30,000 to $70,000, depending on the number of homeless individuals residing in their city. United Way led the selection process for the program which began in July of this year. Cities submitted applications detailing their plans for confronting the problem of homelessness in their midst.
"The County and its cities must work in partnership if we expect to succeed in our battle against homelessness," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Mark Ridley-Thomas. "These grants represent the kind of creative thinking that we need to tackle one of the most pressing humanitarian crises of our region and of our time."

ANTELOPE VALLEY: Lancaster and Palmdale.
EAST & SOUTHEAST LA: Artesia; Bellflower; Downey; Hawaiian Gardens; Norwalk; Paramount; and Whittier.
METRO LA: Los Angeles and West Hollywood.
SOUTH LA: Carson and Lynwood.
WEST LA: Culver City, Malibu, and Santa Monica.
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY: Burbank and Santa Clarita.
HARBOR/SOUTH BAY: El Segundo; Hawthorne; Hermosa Beach; Inglewood; Manhattan Beach; and Redondo.
SAN GABRIEL VALLEY: Alhambra; Arcadia Azusa; Baldwin Park; Claremont; Covina; Duarte; El Monte; Glendora; Industry; Irwindale; La Puente; La Verne; Monrovia; Montebello; Monterey Park; Pomona; Rosemead; San Dimas; San Gabriel; South El Monte; South Pasadena; and West Covina.
