The Sonoma City Council welcomed a new member last week. Kelso Barnett, who serves on the Planning Commission, was appointed March 1 in a 4-0 vote. He is filling the vacancy left by Rachel Hundley, who retired in January with two years left on her term.
“Kelso’s deep love of Sonoma, comprehensive knowledge of how to develop affordable housing, and years of service to our town made him an excellent and unanimous choice,” said Mayor Logan Harvey (Sonoma Sun).
Barnett has served on a number of city commissions and boards. It was that level of involvement that won the Council over. His stated priorities include safeguarding city finances, updating the general plan, and improving the city’s parks and cemeteries.
