The Sonora City Council has voted to move forward with an ordinance that would expand its three medicinal weed permits and allow for recreational sales. The 4-1 vote went against the recommendation of the city’s Planning Commission.
The ordinance will undergo a second reading on November 16. If it passes, cannabis businesses would still have to adhere to a buffer zone. Dispensaries could not operate within 600 feet of sensitive sites like schools or churches.
