The Chairman of the upcoming Regional Mayors Conference has announced that The Southern California District Council of Laborers & its Pension Funds are offering more than $300-million for infrastructure projects throughout the region. A formal announcement is planned for the April 7th event.
“We are elated that our partners in labor have chosen The Summit as the occasion to provide further details on this fund,” said Robert Pacheco, Mayor of the City of Walnut who is leading the event. “We’ve invited Mayors and City Council members from more than 40 cities to this important gathering to learn more about how their communities can participate.”
The fund will help cities in Southern California address critical local needs while stimulating more jobs in the region. The Summit will focus on such issues as Management / Emergency Preparedness, Transportation, Homelessness, Housing Affordability, Storm Water, Redevelopment Alternatives and Legislative Updates.
“The Summit is the first event of its type where Mayors will be able to have roundtable discussions and exchange information to help map out a regional strategy for the future,” says Pacheco.
