Emperor Palpatine wins in Odessa, population 1,003,705.
That is the equivalent of San Jose, population 1,015,785, electing Darth Vader to their city council.. (Not a terrible idea now that we mention it)
What might this mean with the coming release of Star Wars VII?
Councilman Palpatine’s run was accompanied by dozens of other Star Wars characters and in the end, the dark side of the force captured an eye-opening 54% of the votes.
A 25-year-old man named Aleksandr Borovik is the man behind the Sith Lord. He regularly dresses as the Star Wars villain.
Naturally, some people were bound to hate this, with Odessa mayoral candidate Sasha Borovik taking to Facebook to lament the thought process behind electing a Sith. (He probably fancies himself a Jedi)
“I can’t understand, but all the same respect, the choice of those who voted for the current government,” he wrote. “We all have our own choices … but it’s above my understanding. People, what’s wrong with you?”
What is wrong with Odessa? They have caught a Star Wars fever. Other Star Wars incidents include Master Yoda running in last year’s election, a Vladimir Lenin statue was converted into Darth Vader complete with “force-emitting” Wi-Fi hotspot in his head, and a Wookie claiming to be Chewbacca was arrested just a few days ago after failing to produce identification documents, if that isn’t discrimination, we don’t know what it…
