Terror Group Posts Photoshopped Image of DTLA Skyscraper Explosion

Los Angeles anti-terrorism officials say they are investigating an online photo posted by a group supportive of ISIS that depicts an explosion at the third largest building in the city.

The photoshopped graphic shows the top of the AON Center located at 707 Wilshire Boulevard in Downtown L.A. alight in some sort of explosion. In front of the skyscraper is a jihadist clad in camouflage with an ISIS flag. The caption reads, “Our promise will soon be fulfilled.”

Though chilling, authorities have said there is no evidence to suggest the city is in any imminent danger.

The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of the posting made on social media today however, at this point we have not been able to find any credible threat against buildings in our city.

— LAPD HQ (@LAPDHQ) February 16, 2019

The post did not appear to affect daily operations at the AON building Friday.

California has experienced its fair share of terrorism threats, ranging from veiled to serious, since the September 11th attacks 17 years ago. In 2002, the U.S. government foiled a plot to attack the U.S. Bank Tower, L.A.’s tallest high-rise.
