Say what you want about millennials. Economically speaking, they’re a powerful group. So when they start looking for houses, the market researchers pay attention.
Realtor.com dug into the data to find out which cities are attracting the bulk of millennial interest when it comes to home shopping. Here’s some of what they found:
“There are some very specific things you see millennials looking for in a community right now,” according to Jason Dorsey, chief strategy officer for the Austin-based marketing firm, Center for Generational Kinetics. These include easy commutes and sweet amenities like cultural centers, nightlife, restaurants, etc.
Believe it or not, Salt Lake City took the top spot, thanks to its affordability. It has the lowest unemployment on Realtor.com’s rankings (2.9%!) and its median home price is just $360,000. Miami came in at No. 2, followed by Orlando, Seattle, and Houston.
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose also made the list, which you can read in its entirety here.
