According to 24/7 Wall St., Los Angeles has the largest share of firearms linked to crime in the Golden State. The city’s share of state residents (9.9%) does not fully account for the large share of guns used in crime.
Sacramento is the city with the second-largest share of guns linked to crime (4.1%). San Diego is third (2.7%).
24/7 Wall St.’s analysis is based on the latest data from the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Each year, the agency traces hundreds of thousands of firearms suspected to have been used in criminal activity.
