Three California cities are among the top 7 most expensive cities for renters, according to new rankings compiled by Storage Sense and republished by Quartz.
The company, which offers self-storage options across the nation, examined per-square-foot rental data from U.S. metros with over 500,000 people.
These were the most expensive cities for lessees, with average rent per square foot in parentheses:
Washington, D.C. ($229.29)
San Francisco, CA ($225)
New York City ($190)
Boston, MA ($176)
San Jose, CA ($152)
San Diego, CA ($132)
Seattle, WA ($128.42)
