In case you missed it, the El Niño superstorm did a number on the not-so-golden state this week. In addition to flash floods that prompted the closure of the Sepulveda Basin and portions of the 101 freeway, it even caused a brief tornado in the industrial L.A. enclave of Vernon Tuesday.
Several homes and up to eight commercial structures were damaged in the blast, according to city spokesman Fred MacFarlane. Vehicle and roof damage and widespread power outages were also reported in its wake.Fortunately, there were no confirmed injuries.
More rain, high surf and strong winds are expected Thursday, with damage focused along the coastline. A break from this week’s storm is expected Friday.
