In a unanimous vote by the City Council on Feb. 18, Blythe City Manager Frank Luckino was hired for the same position in Twentynine Palms. Having given his 30-day notice to Blythe, Luckino will assume his new role on March 23. He is taking over for acting City Manager Larry Bowden.

"I am doing this for personal reasons," said Luckino. "I have great respect for the city, staff, council, and residents. This move aligns with my plans for my career and family and not relating anything to the city. This decision is what is best for my family."

Blythe Mayor Mike Evans said he respected Luckino’s decision to do what’s best for his family.

"He will continue to be a part of Blythe and help out with projects already in motion,” Evans added.

Luckino has served as Blythe’s top administrator since May of 2013. He previously worked as the city’s finance director and interim city manager, following the retirement of David Lane. From 2004 to 2011, he served on the Yucca Valley Town Council.
