Vallejo Planning Commissioner Resigns After Crazy, Cat-Hurling Zoom Meeting

It’s the Zoom conference that will live in infamy.

On Monday, April 20, the Vallejo Planning Commission gathered for an online meeting. Commissioner Chris Platzer showed up drinking what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage but, hey, who isn’t imbibing a little more than usual during quarantine?

Then things got really weird.

“I’d like to introduce my cat,” Platzer said before physically throwing the animal through the air and out of the frame. The cat didn’t appear harmed, but it did screech as it glided through the air (“reeeower!”). One mortified commissioner buried his head in hands.

The weirdness continued. Platzer evidently called his colleagues “b*tches” during the meeting and used the word “bullsh*t” at the end of the call. Throughout most of the chat, his fellow commissioners appeared completely stunned by what they were witnessing.

An official resolution seeking Platzer’s removal was supposed to be added to the city council’s April 28 agenda, but Platzer beat them to it and resigned. The resolution is remarkable for its documentation of the craziest Zoom meeting we’ve seen so far.

Here's the moment when he threw the cat:

City of Vallejo plans to remove a planning commissioner who threw his cat during a remote Zoom meeting (video below), and allegedly called staff "bitches" and was seen drinking beer.

Again, this was during a planning commission meeting. https://t.co/OXbr2eBSyy
