Thirty-three years of invaluable lessons, accomplishments, and memories. That’s what now former Moorpark City Manager Steve Kueny is taking with him after bidding the city adieu.
Kueny retired on March 2. He was Ventura County’s longest serving city manager.
The City wished him well in a tweet Friday.

Before joining the City of Moorpark in 1984, Kueny served the cities of Commerce, Walnut, and Tehachapi. His proudest accomplishment was the building of the Arroyo Vista Community Park and Recreation Center.
“When I came here, the city was just a year old and (the park) was just a 65-acre piece of property with no access (to neighboring streets),” he said. "By 1994, we had the first phase of the park and the recreation center and we were proud to have done that.”
It’s worth noting that Moorpark remains one of the safest communities in California today, despite a quadrupling in population over the past 33 years. That’s another source of pride for city management.
