El Nino is not playing nice.
You can see erosion in action just after the 0:35 seconds mark.
If you didn’t catch it, that little landslide took a chunk of sidewalk off the back of that complex. Later in the video you can see people in the complex only a short distance from the part that just gave way.
City Manager Lorie Tinfow declared a state of emergency for the city last Friday, saying “El Niño is hitting the city’s coastline very hard and creating almost daily reports of impacts to both public and private property.”
Local reporter Drew Tuma tweeted another photo showing several houses with parts hanging off the edge.

Google Earth’s most recent satellite image of that area is from March 28, 2015, which shows those houses having roughly 20 to 30 more feet of backyard.

Pacifica isn’t a stranger to erosion, having had to abandon several buildings in 2010.
