The City of Vista has hired a longtime team member to serve as City Manager.
John Conley assumed the role on March 8. He replaces Patrick Johnson, who resigned last year after the City Council voted to limit his hiring authority. Amanda Lee, who has served as Acting City Manager since October, has returned to her role as Assistant City Manager.
Conley has worked for Vista for a quarter of a century. He most recently served as Community Development and Engineering Director, overseeing large projects like the Paseo Santa Fe corridor, the redevelopment of Vista Village, two skateparks, the Civic Center, the Moonlight Amphitheatre, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and a Master of Arts degree in Urban Planning from San Diego State University.
"I want to express my sincere appreciation to the staff, the City Council, and the community for the support I've received throughout this process," Conley said in a statement. "I am looking forward to this incredible opportunity of serving Vista as City Manager and embracing the challenges that lie ahead."
