Think you know which American cities have fared best and worst since the 2008 recession so far? The answer just might surprise you.
Personal finance site WalletHub recently released its list of the Most and Least Recession-Recovered Cities in 2015. And while you may have expected a city like Detroit to bottom out, it was actually a town in Southern California that ranked dead last on this list.
San Bernardino has had the hardest time bouncing back from the economic downturn, according to WalletHub’s research. The city, which filed for bankruptcy in 2012, ranked #150 out of the largest 150 cities in the nation.
Overall, WalletHub’s rankings show that California is making a steady comeback though. San Francisco ranked #8. Also making the top 50 were the cities of San Jose (#13); Oxnard (#15); Oakland (#28); Garden Grove (#44); Fremont (#49); and Santa Rosa (#50).
Lubbock, Texas took the #1 spot. It was followed by the cities of Denver, CO and Corpus Christi, TX.
