After nearly 16 years as Walnut’s top administrator, Rob Wishner is calling it quits. He announced his retirement Wednesday, effective Feb. 1.

"After almost 35 years in city government, I am excited to explore a new opportunity while continuing to work with and among local government entities," said Wishner.

Wishner began his career as an intern in Walnut. He worked for the cities of Chino and San Marino before returning as Walnut’s city manager in 2006. During his tenure, Wishner also served as President of the San Gabriel Valley City Manager’s Association, Member of the City Manager’s TAC of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, Board Member – Area D Office of Emergency Management, and LA County/ CJPIA appointed member of Liability Trust Fund Oversight Committee.

“A lot was accomplished with Rob as City Manager,” Mayor Eric Ching said in a press release. “Under his watch the city completed their General Plan update, constructed Meadow Pass Road, and performed numerous improvements to the city’s parks.”

“I wish him the best of luck in his new roles and thank him for everything he’s done for this city."
