Six years after assuming the city manager’s job in West Sacramento, Martin Tuttle has decided to call it quits. Tuttle will step down on July 1, giving him a chance to take a breather, travel, and explore “other challenges.”

“We scored a big win by recruiting Martin Tuttle six years ago,” said Mayor Christopher Cabaldon. He cited a number of projects Tuttle has worked on during his tenure, including flood protection and a new bridge.

“West Sacramento’s reputation and record as a well-managed, prudent, agile city that delivers high-quality services and looks to the future has only solidified even more under his leadership,” the mayor added. “Time and progress move extra fast for Martin, and the City Council is proud of the remarkable accomplishments and audacious success that he has achieved in these six years.”

Tuttle also listed some of the accomplishments he is most proud of: securing funding for construction of the McGowan Bridge and Village Parkway, new walking and bike trails, improvements to the city’s Washington District, a project that transformed unused properties into urban farms, and more.

A recruitment drive for Tuttle’s replacement will begin gearing up in the next few weeks.
