Those intense rainstorms we all endured this winter are yielding some gorgeous dividends.
California is witnessing a spectacular ‘superbloom’ as a result of record precipitation. This is the first real superbloom in four years.
Want to bask in the sea of wildflowers this weekend? The state has published a list of nearly a dozen sites, including four in the San Francisco Bay and seven in Southern California. They are:
- Mount Tamalpais State Park
- China Camp State Park
- Trione-Annadel State Park
- Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
- Chino Hills State Park
- Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park
- Eastern Kern County Onyx Ranch State Vehicular Recreation Area
- Red Rock Canyon State Park
- Tule Elk State Natural Reserve
One place not on the list: Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore. Swarms of visitors caused havoc for the area’s plants, wildlife and residents during the superbloom of 2019. This year, it’s closed.
