The Accountant/Senior Accountant position prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of financial and statistical records involving general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and utility billing. Successful performance requires thorough knowledge of governmental accounting policies and procedures and the ability to exercise sound judgement within established guidelines.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles applicable to government administration, general ledgers, reconciliation and public accounting. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have analytical experience, excellent time management capabilities and interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. A bachelor’s degree in accounting along with CPA certification is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits:
The City offers a total compensation package that includes a generous salary and excellent benefits!
Accountant Salary Range: $29.14-$35.41/hour
Senior Accountant Salary Range: $6848-$8324/month
Candidates are generally hired at the first salary step within the pay range. The ability for advancement within the range occurs after satisfactory performance evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Classification assigned will be determined by the candidates application submitted and evaluated based on minimum qualifications listed on the job description.

Accountant Education/Experience:
Two years of specialized training or college level course work in basic accounting, business administration or related field is highly desirable.  Additionally, two years of general financial experience that includes accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry and utility billing.

Senior Accountant Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance or a related field. In addition, three years of increasingly responsible experience in professional accounting; including one year providing functional supervision of personnel.  Experience in municipal accounting is desirable.
