Job Description
Under the direction of the Public Works Director or designee, performs administrative and analytical functions including accounting operations and, contracts and grants administration.
Participates in grant administration activities; participates in contract administration activities for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects including assisting with the procurement process;
participates in the development and administration of the department budget.
Performs complex clerical and accounting duties involving the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting transactions or documents; prepares and maintains financial spreadsheets for ledgers and statistical records; prepares reports from spreadsheets summarizing information and financial records.
Knowledge of: Modern principles, practices, and methods of administrative and organizat ional analysis; principles and practices of municipal budgeting preparation and administration; general contract administration; structure and organization of public sector agencies; applicable federal , state, and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to local government operations ; oral presentation techniques and practices; and modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment and applicable software.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Training: At least one year of administrative , analytical, and/or budgetary experience. An additional two years of professional-level administrative , analytical and/or budgetary experience, with a minimum of one year in a public works department may be substituted for an Associate 's Degree.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: A valid Class C California driver's license. Work may be required on evening meetings.
