Starting salary: $91,645 to $111,405 DOQ

The Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District (NSAQMD) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as its next Air Pollution Control Officer/Executive Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountain region, and enjoy the mountains, the outdoors, and a more relaxed pace of life.
NSAQMD was formed in 1986 by the merging of the Air Pollution Control Districts of Nevada, Plumas, and Sierra counties. The District is required by state law to achieve and maintain the federal and state Ambient Air Quality standards. The Executive Officer works closely and advises the Board of Directors concerning all matters related to air quality management within the District, develops goals and objectives; selects, trains, motivates and evaluates personnel; develops the budget, and coordinates District activities with those of other agencies and organizations.
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental health science, life science, or a related field. A master’s degree or PhD in a science field is desirable. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in air pollution control enforcement and regulation, including four years of administrative and management responsibility.
