The County of Sonoma Auditor-Controller Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office seeks an experienced financial services management professional to supervise the activities of the General Accounting, Property Tax Accounting, Client Accounting, and Enterprise Financial Systems Divisions. The Auditor-Controller Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office provides a broad range of quality accounting, financial reporting, auditing, collection, financing and investing services to County Departments, agencies, and districts. This Assistant Auditor-Controller is responsible for assisting in the establishment and evaluation of overall County accounting, auditing, payroll, and tax apportionment policies and procedures and may also act for the Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector in his/her absence.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited college or university with an emphasis in accounting, finance, public administration, or business administration
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certificate
- A thorough understanding of how various elements at the State and Federal level, across County Departments, and throughout the community interact with and impact the work of the Office
- The proven ability to exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment in the prioritization and coordination of mandates, goals, and objectives
- Strong personnel management experience, with the ability to connect with staff and be a proponent of staff development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively lead teams and collaborate with the public, governing bodies, and multiple local, State, and Federal agencies
- Extensive experience interpreting, applying, and ensuring compliance with California (CA) Revenue and Taxation Code, CA Government Code, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Auditing Standards (GAS), and the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS); as well as provisions of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Statements on Auditing Standards Board (SAS)
