The City of Fresno is the largest city in the San Joaquin Valley and the fifth largest city in California (pop. 545,000) and is the financial core of the San Joaquin Valley with large-scale agricultural production at the foundation of its economy. The Assistant City Manager supports and directs the activities and operations of various departments. In addition, they are expected to lead and coordinate special projects and participate in the preparation and administration of the City’s annual budget.

With a positive, can-do attitude, they will understand what it takes to be successful in a large, complex organization. They will be an outstanding communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills and value diverse perspectives. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in business or public administration or related field, plus four years of progressively responsible administrative experience leading teams and projects is required.
