The City of Burbank is nestled between the Hollywood Hills and the Verdugo Mountains in the heart of Los Angeles County. The City maintains a workforce of 1,400 and a $203.9 million FY 21-22 General Fund budget. The Assistant Community Development Director – Building Official oversees Building Inspection, Plan Check, Permitting, and Code Enforcement. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative business partner and team leader who plays a key role in making the city a welcoming place to do business, with a shared commitment to superior service, proactive initiatives, and efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, public or business administration or related field, and eight years of progressively responsible construction, inspection, or structural engineering experience with at least four years of supervisory responsibility is required. Registered Engineer or licensed Architect in California is desirable. Must obtain ICC certification as Certified Building Official or equivalent within one year of appointment.
